In 2021, Animal House Project, a 501 c3 Charitable organization was asked to help an Akita Hoarding situation in Northeast Texas and since our rescue had helped the organization in the past with donated pet food, we had agreed to help. You see Animal House Project's origins were in the rescue world in Philadelphia, so it was not a far reach to step in and help. But why Texas you may ask? Animal House Project's President lives in Texas part time and Akitas are her passion. Since that fateful time, we have expanded our breeds to include not only Akitas but Akita mixes, Pyrenees, Labs and Golden Retrievers. SafeHaven Animal Rescue Team - Texas location is a Large Dog Breed Rescue/Rehabilitation and Sanctuary Program that is located in Klondike, Texas. In 2022, the Texas rescue placed 60 dogs; 2023 - 90 dogs and in 2024 we found 65 dogs wonderful homes. Our adopters are located across the United States. In January 2024, Animal House Project took over Diane's Pet Supplies & Adoption Center in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. This rescue is known for puppies and small to medium sized bred dogs. In 2023, they placed over 490 dogs in wonderful adopted homes. We provide training, education and are a parachute for all the dogs that go through our program. We partner and work only with the best rescues who meet our standards when it comes to now all breed dogs. For adoptions: we require a completed application and vetting of the applicant prior to a Meet and Greet. We ask an Adoption Donation (not fee) and when necessary help with transportation costs. Rescue is a Team Effort. There is no “I” on our Team. We are the voice for the voiceless.
